Dining room window update

The wood dried sufficiently, and DH was able to finish making the rest of the new frame. Here are a couple shots of it. In this first photo, we’re looking through the window at the deck outside my living room (really it’s more of a billiard room, as there are only two chairs in there, along with the full-size pool table!). See how nice the frame looks? DH started filling his nail holes with putty and sanding them out.

In this photo we’re looking the other way. Saturday, when I took these shots, was a glorious day. Nice and sunny, and fairly clear. Still can’t see the mountains, but nicer than today, that’s for sure. In the foreground you can see the bench and pepper tree in my next door neighbor’s backyard. The sun is shining brightly into the window. This is the main reason for the low-e glass we’ll be getting.

And here you can see the elegant way we’re keeping the birds and most of the bugs outside while we’re waiting for the new glass to arrive. The glass guy was out yesterday and measured our window and made a cardboard template the exact right size for the opening. It’s a good thing he made a template before they cut the glass. The template was too big, and had to be shaved down a bit on a couple sides. It would be a little difficult to do that with a double-pane window.
