In your lifetime, have you… May 25, 2005
1. …ridden on a rollercoaster? Yup.
Not too many times, but I definitely have. I think my favorite one was the first rollercoaster I was ever on… The old wood one on the boardwalk in Santa Cruz, Calif. I don’t even know if it’s still there. I hope so. It was wonderful.
2. …performed (in any area of the arts) onstage? When I was a kid my mom made me take ballet lessons, just a couple years when I was in grade school. At one point the teacher put together a show with all the classes he taught. So, I was up there, doing my thing at ballet, wearing a bright green tutu. Egads!
3. …planted a garden? A garden of plants in pots, mostly, but yeah.
4. …ever had to reformat your hard drive due to a virus/spyware? Yup. Just last year. One snuck in through our firewall. Pfuey.
5. …written a book? A poem? A song? I’ve written technical manuals. Does that count?
6. …sang karaoke? Nope. Not in this lifetime.
7. …been interviewed by a local tv station/newspaper? No.
8. …witnessed a tornado/earthquake/hurricane first-hand? I lived in San Francisco during 1989 when the quake struck. So, uh, yeah. And it was rather large. Actually, for a while they sort of followed me around. Even when I was visiting in southern California…
9. …participated in a photo scavenger hunt? No.
10. …traveled to another country? Yeah. A few. When I was a junior in high school I spent a week in Mazatlan, Mexico. I think it must have been two or three years before that when my folks and I went on vacation, and crossed over into Canada for the day. Then the summer after senior year I was an exchange student and spent 10 weeks in Germany. My host family took me on vacation with them, and so I got to cross the border into a few countries. Mostly just for the day. But I got the stamps in my passport, so it counts. They took me to Switzerland, Austria, Italy (all in one day), and France. Then a few years back, after I met my husband, the two of us spent a week floating in a yacht off the coast of Belize, and a year or so after that we spent 12 days in the Solomon Islands, spent a day on either side of it in Figi, and in between we touched down on a little island nation of Vanuatu to refuel. Nowhere since then, though. Been getting the bug lately. Wish we had the finances to go somewhere fun!
