Got it!

Wednesday, June 22, 2005

Yippee! I’ve been fretting over not having the most recent book in Elizabeth Peters Amelia Peabody series, Serpent on the Crown. I managed to get a book club edition of it on eBay today (I hate being broke! Would have loved to get a first edition instead). Using my Anything points, including shipping it only […]

My, it’s dark out

Wednesday, June 22, 2005

Up again. I’ve been up in the middle of the night two nights running. Again. It’s so frustrating. There I was, sleeping peacefully, then I was awake. Wide awake. Finally gave up even trying to go back to sleep at 3:45 a.m. Didn’t want my tossing and turning to make my husband. I would have […]

New from Just Nan

Monday, June 20, 2005

Just Nan has announced a new line of adorable little ornament frames. And a free pattern to fit inside! Sounds like she’ll be releasing a bunch of tiny patterns to go in these frames. The new little Santa orny pattern is sure cute. Hm. I like the Twinklings, too.

Summer Favorites

Monday, June 20, 2005

Saturday Special… A few days late.
1. Favorite Summer Activity? Avoiding heat while simultaneously avoiding A/C. Does that count as an activity? Hm. Swimming is a favorite, though haven’t gotten to do it for several years, as we don’t have a pool.
2. Favorite Summer Meal? Spicey Mexican food, fruit salad, ice cream.
3. Favorite […]

Sterling Silver rose update

Monday, June 20, 2005

No wonder it seems like forever since I’ve worked on this. It has! Between finishing up a couple large projects, and starting new ones, this is the first chance I’ve had to work on this gorgeous design since February. I’m still stitching away at it, but wanted to add this update so I could see […]

Dining room window update

Monday, June 20, 2005

Wow. Can’t believe I haven’t posted since last Thursday. Busy, I guess. Well, I’ll do my best to make up for it today.
Last Wednesday the glass guys came to install our gorgeous new double-pane, low-e window into the hole in our wall. In this first picture, the temporary cardboard has been removed, and the […]

How many?

Thursday, June 16, 2005

1. How many books do you read in a week? Month? Year? So far this year I’ve been reading about 3 books a week, and I’ve read 39 books this year. I don’t always keep track, but that’s probably fairly typical.
2. What’s the best book or series of books you’ve read so far this year? […]

Can you believe it?

Thursday, June 16, 2005

I’m not sure I can. It’s actually raining again. And this is *so* not liquid sunshine. It’s wet. Ha! Gotta have a lot of vacationers upset. Hard to have a good time at Disneyland when it’s raining. This is so weird. Wanders off muttering about the weather while being secretly delighted… I love rain.

A borrowed SBQ

Wednesday, June 15, 2005

Do you feel the need to stitch a design from a specific designer just to say that you’ve experienced stitching one of their designs? My first response is an emphatic No! But… Maybe I have. I stitched Mirabilia’s Sleeping Beauty, and loved every moment of it, but the more I think about it, the less […]

The beast

Wednesday, June 15, 2005

This is my couch.
I’ve had custody of it since 1981. My mother grew up with this couch. Grandma put this fabric on it probably about 1930. The beast is a good 6 feet long, each horse-hair cushion weighs at least 20 lbs (probably more, they’re the devil to move about), it’s good hard solid […]
