She’s watching August 19, 2005

The painters are here again today. What a concept. Their plan is to actually take care of everything on Dave’s list *today* that requires scaffolding. This has suddenly become of vital importance, since the scaffolding company will be here tomorrow to take it down. So, they’ve put plastic over a bunch of windows again, so that they can paint the undersides of the decks that they were supposed to do weeks ago—one coat down—or up, depending on how you look at it, since they’re working on stuff over their heads. Dave says they’ve gotten a lot of other things done, too, and it’s only noon! They’ll be back tomorrow, too, to follow the scaffolders as they remove the wires attaching the scaffolding to the house. The wire holes will need to be patched and painted before the scaffolding is actually removed. Sounds complicated.
You’re probably wondering what the picture of Ricki has to do with any of this. Well, she’s trying to look through a window that has plastic over it. Workmen are out there making all sorts of interesting sounds. She amazes me sometimes. All the clumping, banging, and funny noises that they’ve been making all this time don’t seem to bother her at all. In fact, they just peak her curiosity. Whenever possible, she’s spent time staring out the window, watching them. Very cute. I think she was making one guy a little nervous the other day. He was moving a ladder around on our main deck, while Ricki watched his every move.

Reading your posts on your home improvement/contractor issues always makes me smile. I am having the same problem with projects getting done except my contractor is my husband. Oh well. Hope everything turns out well!!
