Ahhhh

Sunday morning finds us this week sitting at our favorite local coffee shop, Cyranos, in east Orange. Dave and I both have laptops running, he’s working, I’m playing, both connected to the Internet through the wireless here, tummies full of yummy breakfasts. He had a delicious-looking breakfast burrito, and I had a yummy 2-egg omelet, hashbrowns, and a bagel with cream cheese. I don’t think I’ll need to eat again for a week! The owner, Jim, is in a fine mood this morning, and joking around. A couple ladies are sitting outside with their three dogs. A couple just showed up who normally have an animal or two in tow. They didn’t seem to bring any of their menagerie today. They’ve showed up before with a goat, a miniature cow, a sheep, or any one of a number of other fun animals. It’s almost disappointing to see them without one of their four-footed friends along. It’s still nice and foggy out, so it’s cool so far, though it promises to burn off and get quite warm by the afternoon.

The scaffolding guys showed up yesterday morning at 7:30, and had all that scaffolding down and cleared away, all discarded wood removed, all empty paint cans tossed. And we had our house back by early afternoon. We opened up the cat door onto the main deck for the first time in weeks, and Ricki delighted in going in and out. She reveled in the sun, played in the shade, sniffed around, and generally enjoyed herself. She’s as glad as we are that things have gone back to normal.

Yesterday evening a friend came by, Johnna. She’s written a new play for a small, local community theater. It’s a multi-media play. For part of it, she needs to film scenes in a real house, and the film will be shown. She interviewed our house (hadn’t been over before) to see if it will work for her purposes. It might. She has one other house to interview, then she’ll let us know. We hadn’t seen her for a year or more. We had a good visit. She even brought along a sweater that she recently finished for show and tell. She knit it using EZ’s knit-in-the-round design using a brightly colored variegated yarn, and it turned out quite well, I think. I certainly liked it! I shared my current sock project. We may get together at a semi-local restaurant before too long to eat and knit. She wants some sock-knitting lessons, as her first attempt was unsatisfactory. Should be fun. It’ll be quite fun if she chooses our house for the filming, as well. If she does, we’ll get a pair of free tickets to her play. And that’s always fun.
