Miscellany

Some miscellaneous questions from Monday Madness this week.

  1. When putting groceries away, do you rotate your food so your newest items (cans and such) are in the back, and older food in the front? Dave always does, but (honestly) I usually only do that if I think I’ll get caught. When left to my own devices, I figure everything will get used sooner or later anyway.
  2. Do you own a digital camera? If so, how long have you had one? If not, do you plan to purchase one soon? Yup. Got one. Have had it several years now. Wouldn’t mind getting one of those nifty smaller ones that’s out now, but can’t justify it as this one still works great.
  3. How do you store your precious photos? I store them on my hard drive, on our server, and back them up to CD whenever I can.
  4. It’s 6:00 a.m. and you’ve just lost power due to a severe thunderstorm; they say it will probably take at least 12 hours before power will be restored; what do you do? I grab a book or my knitting, and settle in for a relaxing day away from the computer.
  5. How many times a year do you (or does someone dear to you) wax your automobile? Uh, zero. And it needs it badly! Poor car.
  6. Gas prices: what can we say except they’ve reached an all-time high. How are you dealing with this? Egads. I’m just glad I get decent mileage and don’t drive much. I usually only get gas once a month these days. Very glad for it, too. It cost $44.00 to fill up my tank over the weekend!
  7. Have you ever purchased a book or CD twice, forgetting that you already had it? Yup. Done that a bunch. Especially with books and patterns. It got so bad at one point—I had a lot of money for books at the time—that I started a little database in my Palm so I knew what I had when I was at the store. That was years ago and, naturally, the list is quite out of date by now. Best laid plans and all that. It did help for quite a while, though.
