The Belgariad August 23, 2005

There seem to be quite a few people in addition to me who have read David Eddings series, The Belgariad, multiple times. So, this week, a few questions about these books.
- First, have you read this five-book series? If so, how many times? I sure have. Just finished my fourth go-round.
- What brings you back to read this story again? The writing is easy to read while not being too simplistic, I’ve always enjoyed reading fantasy, and I love the characters. I find that I miss them if I’ve gone long without reading the books! I also really enjoy the fact that the women aren’t all gushy and weak, that they have strength, intelligence, and talents of their own that are recognized by the male characters in the books.
- Who are your favorite characters? Why? I have to admit to having a bit of a crush on the adult Garion. He and my own dear Dave actually have a number of things in common! I also really like Belgarath and Polgara, and Barak and Silk. I like all of the protagonists, when you come right down to it. Vella’s a scream.
- If you could magically be a part of their saga, would you? Would you want to take the place of one of the characters, or be someone new? It’d be fun to be Polgara for a while.
