Dinner party August 30, 2005

Today’s questions brought to us by Nicki, who has come up with a ton of fun ideas, this being the first that struck me.
- Which 3 authors would you invite to a dinner party (they can be dead)? Agatha Christie, Elizabeth Peters, and David Eddings (and his wife Leah).
- Why? Since the first time I picked up an Agatha Christie book I was hooked. Though I don’t think I’ve read all of them yet, I must be pretty close. Her mysteries are just delightful, and I always thought that she would be, too. I love Amelia Peabody and her family. Ms. Peters seems like a woman who would be fun at a party. I mean really, just look at the pictures of her in the back of her books. She looks like she enjoys having fun. Plus, like Ms. Christie, she’s obviously very intelligent. David and Leah Eddings. Well, they’ve collaborated on one of my favorite series of books, and I’d just like to have them along. The characters in the books are so real, so delightful, and show such insight and humor that I can’t imagine the Eddings’ being anything other than intelligent and fun.
- Would they get along? I think that Agatha Christie and Elizabeth Peters would get along, at least well enough for a dinner party. They’re both very intelligent, multi-lingual, and have an interest in Egyptology. I have no idea if the Eddings would fit in in that respect, however having people there who are different would be fun, and would help to get conversations going in different directions, which I would enjoy.

Hi Laura, nice group! I think EP would be a great guest too - you’re right about the photo’s in her books (I love her costume with the pith helmet!). I forgot she had egyptology in common with Agatha Christie.
