Dad’s socks August 31, 2005
After years of being lost, then recently found, the socks for Dad are finally done. I no longer know where I found the fair isle pattern that I used. Good thing that part was done on both
socks. The first sock was completely knit, though ends needed hiding. The second sock stopped just below the fair isle bit. In the last week or two I finished up the leg, did the flap and heel, knit the foot. Last night I finished up the toe, and hid all the ends. Dave tried them on quickly to make sure a large man’s foot would fit. He’s foot is quite a bit longer than Dad’s so I didn’t know if he’d be able to put it all the way on or not, but he did, assuring me that his toes were cramped, and that Dad’s shorter wider foot would fit just fine. Then he promptly removed his foot from the sock. Dave’s allergic to wool—since Dad’s not, the socks are wool—and it had started itching already. I’m planning on seeing Dad some time next month. I’ll take these along with me to give to him then.
