Kiri shawl

Wednesday, August 17, 2005

I’ve been hearing a lot about Kiri shawls for a while now, and finally posted a question over on the Townsend Sock KAL, since it seems that a lot of people there are making it. Oh, okay. I can see now why its so popular. It’s gorgeous. So I did a little digging, and even […]

Mirabilia’s Sleeping Beauty

Monday, August 15, 2005

A week ago last Friday I got tired of waiting until I’d see my friend Patti (I’ve only been waiting since mid-March!), so I mailed Sleeping Beauty to her. Actually, I don’t have Patti’s address, so I mailed it to her mother. They don’t see each other all the time, but often enough as they […]

It’s raining!

Monday, August 15, 2005

Last I looked I was still in southern California. Our weather this year has been so strange. But even so, July and early August seemed fairly normal—lots of sun, maybe a little fog in the morning. But today it’s raining. It’s great! If the weather was like this here more often I wouldn’t hate living […]

On what day of the week were you born? Friday.
Do you look forward to birthdays? Yes, amazingly I still do.
How do you usually celebrate your birthday? Usually do something quiet at home with Dave. He’ll cook me something special for dinner.

Has anyone ever thrown you a surprise party? Yes. Dave threw […]

Lilac Basket update

Sunday, August 14, 2005

Only five more days, but I’ve made a lot of progress. More of the lovely flowers done, plus I’ve worked more of the top of the basket, and some background on the far left side. I also filled in a bunch of one- and two-stitch holes—and created some new ones. Ah, confetti stitching.

I can see out!

Saturday, August 13, 2005

I came into my office late Thursday afternoon to see the paper being removed from the slider onto my deck.

And just a minute or so later, nearly all the paper’s gone. Did you know there’s a world out there? I’d no idea! Isn’t it grand?

Sock stuff

Friday, August 12, 2005

After dragging out Dad’s unfinished socks the other day, I still haven’t knit on them a bit. Definitely need to fix that—especially since my Opal Uni sock yarn arrived yesterday! But I really need those needles that Dad’s socks are hogging. I love the Opal. Can’t wait to start knitting with it. The green’s a […]

Fantasy anyone?

Friday, August 12, 2005

Roger Zelazny’s Amber series, J.R.R. Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings, David Eddings’ Belgariad, and Stephen R. Donaldson’s Thomas Covenant trilogies, are all classic examples of fantasy. None of them are books either of my parents would ever consider reading. I’ve devoured them all… And more.

Do you like to read fantasy? Fantasy and mystery are my […]

Love/hate relationship

Wednesday, August 10, 2005

First off, I love being able to format web pages using styles! I started using styles in MS Word way back in the late 1980s when Word was only available on the Macintosh (those were the days). HTML with styles is divine. So much easier—sometimes, anyway. Then there are those times when you tell it […]
