A couple questions from Kim and Nicki…
- What are your five favorite books of all time? Why did they make the list? I’m going to count The Belgariad by David Eddings as one book, since it’s one story and to count them all individually would fill up my list! Let’s see. Other all time favorites include Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger, The Wind’s Twelve Quarters by Ursula Le Guin, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I’m sure I can come up with another one…
- What’s the earliest book you can remember? Do your family read? Who encouraged you to read? Two of them: James and the Giant Peach—no, I never saw the movie, and have no intention of it—and Where the Wild Things Are. My mother’s a reader, but my father is not, though both always encouraged me to read.
- Reference books—do you have any? Why do you have the ones you do? Do you use them? Lots of reference books. Dictionaries, an atlas (I love my atlas, thanks Mom and Dad!), knitting pattern and how-to books, all sorts of stuff. And yes, they all get used.
