I need to stop reading blogs September 27, 2005
I followed a sig line link from a post to the Six Sox KAL list, to Jody’s blog, Killer Peach, and there I discovered some beautiful knitting (love your Ambles, Jody), and a fabulous cardigan sweater pattern, Samus, from Knitty that I’d ignored before because of the orange the model was knit in, and the fact that it doesn’t button up—I haven’t had a zippered cardigan since the 70s, and don’t know if I can stomach going back to one… If I do, I don’t have to buy new bell-bottoms, do I? I may be able to make a minor mod to the pattern and make button plackets for it. Maybe. We’ll see. Or maybe I could get a set of those pewter clasps for the front instead. Hm. Of course it doesn’t at all help that I love the yarn this sweater was knit out of (if not the color). I have a sweater I knit from Brown Sheep’s Lamb’s Pride bulky about 13 years ago, and it still looks practically new—and it’s not from lack of wearing! Gads. I have accumulated quite a wish list of knitting patterns since I started blogging and reading other people’s blogs this spring. And it’s not like there was a shortage of them around here before that, as evidenced below.![]()
While that collection does contain a few cross stitch and needlepoint books, and the better part of a cube of machine-knitting books, it is mostly hand-knitting books (collected over a quite a few years!). A little bit of my yarn is there, too, in Rubbermaid containers. So, you see, I really don’t need any new knitting patterns. I have quiet enough already to last me into the next millennium. But then, what does need have to do with it, anyway?
