I hate nightmares October 16, 2005
But then, if they were good dreams, if I liked them, they wouldn’t be nightmares, would they? I often get them if I’m too warm when I sleep, but usually they’re quick, and are soon forgotten when I wake up. Not this one, though. Luckily it was almost light out, anyway, because I had to get up, get out of bed, too shaken up by the dream.
So, there I was, driving along in my car, Dave riding shotgun, and two people I don’t know in the back seat: one man, one woman. No idea why they were there. The gal tells me (at the last minute) to take this other ramp, there’s something in the lane, I swerve around it, and I lose control of the car and go shooting off the road into thin air. I managed to land the car in a grassy area and stop it, just before running back into on-coming traffic. My doors pop open on impact, my stuffed animal, Coco, goes flying out, and she nearly gets hit (no idea why Coco was in the car, too), but we managed to save her. Dave and I were fine, if a bit shaken up, but the two in the back seat were hurt, though conscious. Meanwhile, all the oncoming traffic screeched to a stop, hoping we weren’t going to crash into them, then a guy in one of those cars gets out and starts yelling at me. At this point I found continuing the dream to be a really bad idea, so I woke myself up. Egads. No way I could go back to sleep after that one.
On the up side, if I hadn’t had the dream, I wouldn’t be sitting here typing right now, and I would have totally missed seeing the sparrowhawk (kestrel) land on my neighbor’s balcony, turn around, then almost immediately take a nose-dive off the balcony toward the ground. Hope he managed to catch his breakfast.

I hate having nightmares and I’ve had some big ones(some I still can’t forget). The ones you can’t shake are the worst–I’ve actually woken up, gone back to sleep, and the dream continued from the spot I woke up.
Good for you using lifelines for Kiri–I haven’t used one yet for my Beginner’s Triangle and I have a feeling it’s going to haunt me when I least expect it.
Your amble socks look great! I actually started my first pair in a while–from the handknit Holidays book(really good book by the way).
Hope you have a peaceful sleep tonight :)
