Frogging

How do you feel about staying totally true to a pattern? Do you feel that you have to rip out stitches to fix a mistake or do you feel it’s acceptable to incorporate a mistake into the design?

Some patterns I am completely comfortable with making changes to, some minor, like the bead-color change I did in Mirabilia’s Sleeping Beauty (I changed one of the blue beads to green), others more major, like completely removing a large section of Teresa Wentzler’s Birth Announcement (removed the whole angel scene), while other patterns I stitch as designed. It just depends… on my mood, on who I’m stitching it for, on the pattern, and on the end result that I want.

Frogging. There’s a topic. Sometimes I’ll go to great lengths to fix a frog, other times I shrug and leave the mistake there. Often I’ll fix it if I find it soon after making it, but then again, not always. It’s another thing that depends on my mood.
