Wrist warmer progress

Ooh. I forget sometimes how quickly knitting goes with fatter yarns and larger needles. I’m knitting these on size 5 circulars (32 inches, as it turns out), and am already nearly done with the first wrist warmer. I know. It doesn’t look like much here. Just a tube…

But then I put it on so you can see what it really looks like. It comes nicely up my arm.

And I have the button hole/thumb hole done… See?

I’m so glad that I won’t have to wear these with the needles still attached. How awkward. The plan at this point is to continue along with the 2×2 rib for another two inches before binding off. I’ll be wearing this before its mate is done. Guaranteed. I’ll put it on my right (mouse) hand. In spite of the needles, I didn’t want to take this off. It’s nice and warm! And it’s long enough that I’ll be able to tuck the end of my sweater sleeves in for gap-free warmth down the entire length of my arm. Weee! I can hardly wait.

P.S. Yes, the magic loop method of knitting in the round is… Magical! And fun. And easy. The only tricky part was getting it started, but I didn’t find it any trickier than messing with five double-pointed needles. I can see how having a longer circular would make it easier, but this 32 inch one I’m using works just fine. My big tip: regardless of needle length, make sure the cable is nice and flexible. It would be quite awkward with a stiff cable. If mine were a little more flexible I don’t think I’d complain at all.

You’re doing a great job! I cast on a pair in hot pink. Maybe I’ll get them done before winter is over.
