Weekend knitting

Purple toe up 2

I’m not ready to jump back into my green cardigan (I’m having doubts that it’s the right size, so I’m avoiding the inevitable), and I got tired of waiting to have the chance to go get that long circular so I could start the moebius for Mom, so I started a new pair of purple socks on Saturday. My first pair of toe up socks! I got this far, and now I’m stuck. It’s a lace pattern, and her instructions for getting it started make no sense to me at all. I spent some time on Saturday and again on Sunday pouring over the instructions, and still haven’t figured them out. I think I’ll probably end up just winging it, and hoping for the best.

Also on the knitting front, I managed to get the purchase of the needles I needed onto the list of errands on Saturday. Yippee! I spent a good chunk of the day in front of the TV with Dave—he was playing Halo 2 on his XBox—and got a good start on the moebius for Mom. This is a very strange way to knit. It plays with my brain. But it does seem to be working. Since the yarn’s so dark, it’s hard to see what I have, but I’ve knit four rows (not sure “row” is the proper term here, but I have none better). Getting started was a bit awkward, and I could have done the join better, but I refuse to rip it out at this point. Mom’ll just have to wear it with the loose stitches at the back of her neck so they don’t show. Knitting from the center of a project toward the edges is very strange. Dave thinks so, too. But ya know, it’s fun!

Other stuff

It’s cocktail hour, and “the kids” will not be denied. Here Le Mutt is enjoying a martini, and Coco is inhaling her whiskey and water, while completely ignoring the knitting going on.

Not to be out done, here’s Ricki sitting shaking her head at the silly way her human parents act, while begging for a dinner she’d already eaten, and blending in with the oak cabinets and floor.
