Reading report

  1. Have you finished any books yet? Yup. Sure have.
  2. If you have, how many, what were they, how did you like them? So far this year I’ve read Sue Grafton’s S is for Silence, Lawrence Block’s The Specialists and Burglar in the Library, and Ellery Queen’s Inspector Queen’s Own Case. I seem to be on a bit of a mystery kick. I enjoyed all the books. I think S is for Silence is one of Sue’s best books. I loved going back and forth in time between current (well, for Kinsey) and 1954. Awesome. Well done, Sue. I always love Lawrence Block. I’ve had The Specialists around for a while, but think this is the first time I’ve read it. Definitely more serious than the Burglar books (not that that’s difficult), but well done. He wrote it to be the first book of a new series, and so far—and it’s been quite a few years—it remains a series of one book. I wonder if he’ll ever change his mind back and write more books in the series. One can never tell. The Burglar books are all delightful. I’ve read most of them (though not all), and it’s the second time I’ve read this one. It has been long enough, though, that I didn’t remember who’d done it. Yippee! I did remember who’d done it in Inspector Queen’s Own Case, though thoroughly enjoyed this re-read as well. An Ellery Queen book without Ellery. Fun.
  3. If not, why not? Are you currently reading anything that you just haven’t finished yet? I’m currently reading Maeve Binchy’s Circle of Friends. Definitely not a mystery. I’d classify it as general fiction. Nicely written book. I’m quite enjoying watching it unfold.
