Kaffe Fassett KAL

I found one! I found one! Fassett KALI just knew that someone must have a Kaffe Fassett knitalong going. And I found one. Yippee! I’m naturally no closer, really, to knowing without a doubt which Fassett I’m starting with than I was when my Pattern Library arrived in the mail a week ago—see this post, if you’re so inclined. It still may be Tapestry Leaf, or Muriel’s Tall Flowers. Dave doesn’t really like Rows of Poppies, doesn’t think it’s very Fassett-like, so I may not do that one. There is another I keep thinking about in one of his earlier books, Glorious Knits, Large Steps. Actually, Stone Patch (also in Glorious Knits) is also a possibility. Gads.

How do I decide? Should I set up a poll? How does anyone choose where to start?

In her initial post for the KAL, one thing Sam asks is if any Kaffe Fassett books are owned. Ha ha ha ha ha. Um. Yes. In addition to the two listed above, I have Glorious Color, Family Album, and Glorious Needlepoint. The last in my list was actually my original introduction to Kaffe Fassett. I was in a bookstore at lunch one day years ago, perusing the fiber books, and fell head-over-heels in awe with his designs. Years later, imagine my delight when he shifted focus and started publishing knitting books. Woohoo! And yes, I’ve read them all cover-to-cover, and the hints about knitting in the ends helped me save what’s left of my sanity when I knit my first (and so far only) intarsia sweater.

Sam also posted a link to some helpful tips for knitting these masterpieces. I haven’t read the whole thing yet, but I certainly will.

I need some helpful hints, useful tips, advise for how to choose my first Fassett project. Anyone? Help. Please.
