Everything’s coming up purple

Hm. That doesn’t sound quite right somehow. Purple socks - 2006-02-16It’s accurate, though. Purple socks, purple roses… I’m awash in purple, and loving every minute of it.

You’re right, Kim. This yarn has definitely been calling out for a lace pattern. It just took me a bit to find the right one. This sock pattern rocks. It’s easy to follow, easy to memorize the lace bits, and is knitting up quickly. It’s amazing what a difference it makes when the yarn is happy! Yesterday I turned the heel and started the gusset decreases. You might even notice that there’s considerably less Sterling Silver 2006-02-15yarn wrapped around the skein. Yippee!

I’ve been making good progress on Sterling Silver in spite of the fact that I haven’t been working on it daily. I’m getting close enough to being done that I can almost taste it.

Fire

Last week’s fire is now completely contained. I haven’t seen a wisp of smoke peeking over the hills in days. Whew. Since the fire never reached any structures, it was decided to let it burn itself out, so that’s what they’re doing. The last time I looked at the site more than 10,000 acres had burned, the price tag was more than $6 million, and eight firefighter had been injured. Not too bad considering. Though, obviously, it would have been better if they’d planned things differently, and thought about how dry everything was before doing the controlled burn in the first place. Ah, 20/20 hindsight is a lovely thing, isn’t it?

I shouldn’t laugh, because fire’s not funny at all, but that’s just so silly for a ‘controlled burn’!

The sock looks lovely, and so does Sterling Silver. If I keep watching your blog you’ll have me digging out my knitting needles!

Mmmmm… purple. My favorite color and you’re just immersed in it. I’m jealous. ;) The sock is looking really delicate and Sterling Silver is almost done! I can’t wait to see it in all of it’s purpley glory!
