Comments on comments

Comment on your comments (giving and receiving): Do you love comments or hate them? Do you check them every day, never check them, or find them helpful? And finally, are you convinced no one is reading your blog if you don’t get any?

I love getting comments, and enjoy giving them. I don’t leave comments every time I read other people’s blogs, but I do often, most of the time really. I get email when I get a comment, so don’t have to go check. I get quite excited when someone leaves me a note. It makes my day when I get more than one comment on a single post (A huge Thank You to Nicki and Jenna for their nice comments on yesterday’s purple update). I sometimes think that I must be one of the most boring people alive. I know people look at my blog. I have a hit counter that shows that nearly nine thousand hits in less than a year. I feel lucky if I get any comments at all. I see other people’s blogs with lots of comments on their posts, sigh, and wonder why I don’t get them. I even ask questions of my readers in my posts, and often get no responses at all. That bums me out. More than once I’ve wondered why I’m bothering to do this. It takes quite a bit of time, after all. But I have gotten some nice comments from folks (thank you!), and I’ve found out some great stuff by looking at other blogs. Besides which, in spite of getting very little response, a part of me still enjoys blogging.

I know how you feel… it’s like I know people are coming to my site because the site stats prove it, but nobody ever says anything! Then again, they must like what they read because why else would they keep reading, right?

I love your blog Laura! I love checking all your links too to see what’s new :) Keep blogging - I’ll keep commenting :)

I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and really enjoy it. We have the same interests: knitting and stitching (I don’t know if you remember me but I’ve “met” you on the Mirabilia board). I don’t know why I haven’t left a comment before. I know how it feels when there aren’t that many comments.

Your purple socks are coming along beautifully ;o)

I love comments too — and have made great friends through them! Personally, I go through splurges where I visit lots of blogs and feel really chatty ;o) Sometimes I think I’m TOO chatty, and I taper off for a while and just ‘lurk.’

I’ve enjoyed watching your projects! I love blogging and would probably blog, just for my own records, even if no one ever came (but the hit counter says they do!)

Personal Note: I think I need to blog more about knitting and less about kittens ;o)

Your socks are turning out great–I can’t wait to see them all done. There is another freebie up at HAED in General Discussion–I like it a lot more than the first–just thought you’d like to know :) Have a great weekend!

Honestly, it takes a while to build up a following and get more comments. I think you’re doing well! I spent some lonely days when I started my blog… felt like I was only talking to myself! That’s fine and all, but it’s really nice to get that feedback! :)
