Fabric avalanche

It’s what it feels like. Piles of fabricThe oldest son, Tom, of my elderly next door neighbor, moved his mom to Colorado a few months ago, and put her house on the market. He’s been here a lot recently, getting the house ready for the new owners by rebuilding the front steps, clearing out corners, gathering stuff to be given away or tossed, and just making a mess. Dave went over there on Sunday morning to see how things were going. Tom had just gone through his mom’s fabric collection, and piled it in four 30-gallon trash bags. He was going to take the fabric all down to a local charity outfit, when Dave told him I might be interested in it. Dave came home to collect me, and off we went. Yeow. This photo is some of the fabric after I sorted it into piles. I couldn’t get all the piles in the photo. It’s stunning, amazing. Look at all that fabric! A lot of it is some sort of knit or other, a lot are very large pieces, a few are garments not quite completed, some cottons, two lovely pieces of velvet, a large piece of flannel, some fabric that might just work well for the seats of our kitchen chairs, and other delightful things. Most of this I’m not going to keep, but will get rid of one way or another. In the meantime, I’m fully enjoying having this mini-fabric store on the floor of my TV room. The possibilities!

Oh wow! I’m envious! You’ll have to take up making cushions or something ;)
