Bluefish blues April 21, 2006
I should know by now that when a pattern tells me to stop two inches before the end of my foot to start the toe decreases that I either have to start the decreases sooner, or I have to be much more aggressive in my decreasing. Yes. You’ve guessed it. I must frog the end of my Pomatomus and reknit it. And there I’d been hoping for a finished sock!
Meanwhile, I’ve been curious. What does a real pomatomus fish, or Pomatomus saltatrix—turns out it’s the Latin name for a bluefish—look like? Well, I’ve found a number of black and white photos, which I’m sure don’t give the bluefish credit, and this one site. A one John Hersey even wrote a story (novel) about them called Blues that reviewers on Amazon seemed to really like.

Funny thing. Most of the links on the first two pages of my search were about the sock pattern.

Bummer about having to frog and reknit Laura! I hope we’ll still get to see a finish sock in a few days.
Have a great weekend!

Frogging is never fun. I am sure your socks will be great. I look foreward to picures of the finished sock.
