It’s amazing how much knitting
progress even I can make in just a few days when I don’t have to work all day long! The large needles and fat yarn definitely help, as well. I now have the entire back done, and just a tad more than half of the right front.
Construction on this sweater is interesting. Once you get to the top of the shoulders you put the stitches for the left front on a stitch holder, then continue knitting down the right side, shaping for the neck opening, and reversing the color blocks, this time working from the top down instead of from the bottom up. It takes an interesting mental shift to do this. I keep having to check myself. I think I’ve managed to do it right so far. The back and right fronts are matching, anyway, so it seems correct.

In this second picture, since the sweater is knit in one piece, you can see the back side of the back of my sweater. I learned a long time ago that it saves my sanity to weave in the ends as I go along. This is infinitely better in my book than leaving it all to the end. I think I must have learned about this the first time I got my hands on one of Fassett’s books… It’s something that he whole-heartedly recommends. I concur.
