Shetland lace July 19, 2006
I forget whose blog I found this link on. Drat. Anyway, Elizabeth Lovick has an article about Shetland lace knitting, including a bit of history, and a few patterns, on Knitting Beyond the Hebrides site. There are a lot of wonderful links on their schedule page.
I’ve been thinking about maybe joining The Knitting Guild of America lately, for the purpose of taking some of their correspondence or master knitting classes. I can knit most of the things I attempt without too much trouble, but sometimes it’d be fun to know more, if you know what I mean. I haven’t taken any sort of knitting class in twenty years—haven’t taken any kind of class in that long, actually. I’m apprehensive. Has anyone done this? Did you find it worthwhile?

I was too for my classes (not knitting, but, still new to me), but once I started I really enjoyed and got a lot from them.
So go for it I say!
If you don’t like them- at least you will have tried it, and met a few more like-minded friends!

Go for it! My brother’s mother-in-law-to-be is a certified master crocheter. I’ve talked about her before, she heads up Squares 4 Survivors. She said it was a lot of work, but worth it in the end.
