Stone Patch… nearly there

We spent Stone Patch nearly doneSunday afternoon at a friends’ house. Friends, Marc and JoAnn, who willingly shared their air conditioning with us. I took Stone Patch along, just in case it was cool enough to work on it. It was. It was cool enough, that is, to have a big, thick, wool sweater on my lap for a while, and not die of heat. And now, except for the buttons—which I still have to buy—it’s done. Ta da! Have another friend, Rachel, who is willing to help me figure out what buttons I should look for. She’s good at that sort of thing. Now I just need to give her a call and find a time when I can take my sweater over to her house so she can see it. Weee.

So many shawls…

I don’t know where I’d wear all the shawls I want to make, assuming of course that I have time in my life to make them all. I went and found another that I like. I was at Elann’s site the other day—dangerous, I know—and saw this gorgeous thing on their home page. They’re giving away the pattern to the Rambling Leaves Shawl. Dave and I were at Ron and Rachel’s house the other night, and Rachel was wearing this wonderful skirt. So soft. Nice drape. Cool. She said it was made of hemp. You wonder why I mention this? Well, the yarn that’s suggested for the Rambling Leaves Shawl is 100% hemp. If this yarn is as nice as the fabric Rachel’s skirt is made of, it’ll be lovely. Not ropey at all.

And today I was reading Yarn Harlot’s blog, and she’s started a new shawl, the Adamas Shawl from Knit Picks. I remember having seen this pattern. Didn’t think twice about it. Then Stephanie had to go and start it, and post a nice picture of her start. I’m not sure why she thought to knit it from the Knit Picks photo, but now that I’ve seen a good picture of it, I want to knit it, too. Egads.

On another note

Has anyone else who blogs on Blogger had trouble uploading pictures the last couple of days? It’s been murder. Most of the time I give up and just put them on my own server. I’d rather that blogger hosted the images, though. Rather use their bandwidth than my own. It’s really rather irritating. Arg.

Stone Patch looks amazing! Congratulations. It seemed to knit up really fast. Now you just need cooler weather so you can wear it!

And a shawl would be so nice too!
