Knitting along August 31, 2006
It’s getting to be decision time in lap blanket land.
The blanket is now considerably longer than it is wide, and if I follow the pattern exactly, this won’t change appreciably. I’ve been considering knitting four-ridge bands all the way around and inserting mitered corners so that I can use up as many small bits of all the colors as I can. I can’t do that if I continue following the pattern closely without running out of yarn. I currently have thirteen of the required twenty seven ridges for block nine. What I’m thinking is this: block nine will have only eighteen ridges instead and half of them will count towards the border, I’ll also count nine of the eighteen block-eight ridges as border. Then I’ll just have to knit up nine-ridge borders on the sides, and do the mitered corners. If I have enough of any one color left after all of that, I may do a single-crochet edge around the whole thing. How’s that sound?
