Enough about books…

But, enough about books… what else do you read?? Magazines? Newspapers? Professional journals? Cereal boxes? Phone books? Purchase invoices? Homework? (Please be specific. There may be a test later.)

I am a reader.

I read whatever is in front of me. If there isn’t something interesting in front of me, I’ll read the cereal box, tissue box, tampon box about a million times, until I’ve long since memorized every word, billboards, advertisements, phone books, dictionaries, purchase invoices, coffee mugs, you name it.

I’ve done this since childhood.

In addition to books, I look forward to reading my More magazine when it comes each month, as well as Interweave Knits and Knitter’s magazines. I’ll read the occasional newspaper article that Dave pulls out for me. I don’t like newspapers, though, hate the feel of the paper, the size of the thing, trying to fold it, blah, blah, blah. Can’t stand the things, so I don’t seek them out. But if they’re in front of me, I’ll read them, too, though I get frustrated, and soon find something else to read, or I leave, or pick up my knitting. I read blogs, online knitting magazines, and miscellaneous web pages. One thing that will stop me from reading a web page, other than lack of time or general interest, is a plethora of misspelled words or bad grammar. I want to get out my red pen and mark them up, fix them, but I can’t. So I move on. Sometimes it’s quite frustrating, especially when the content is interesting.

I’m a reader.

No, I don’t want a twelve-step program.

I’m a reader, and I’m happy to remain so.

Ooooh, I’m with you - I’m a *total* grammar snob! I can overlook simple mistakes, because I know I’m guilty of them from time to time. But consistent typos, misspellings, and horrible grammar…like nails on a chalkboard to me.
I’ve had to give up on reading some sites and posts just because of the terrible grammar. It hurts my brain to try and process it all! :-)
