Red, she said

Anne sent out a bunch of invitations last night, and as of this morning we have fourteen members in our new red sweater KAL. Wow. I’m excited. No bones about it. She made us a couple of buttons, too, one of which I’ve adopted and put in my sidebar.

I haven’t swatched my red merino yet. I’m afraid that when I do I’ll drop everything else I’m knitting (well, mostly the shawl), and not go back to it for some time. I don’t want to do that. We’ll see how long I can hold out, though.

To answer a few questions and comments… Jenna said:

Goodness, you tackle such huge projects! Well worth the effort in the end, but my eyes pop out of my head at your stitch counts.

My eyes pop out at the stitch counts sometimes, too. But I love doing the big projects for some reason. Sense of accomplishment is definitely part of it. Another part is that I don’t have to go digging around for a new project quite so often. LOL

Rachel and Angela were encouraging about the buttons. I still haven’t taken one tiny little step toward sewing them on, though.

Angela then asked:

Is it possible that you’ll make a new “Laura’s Thoughts” button for your blog in red?

Anything is possible. I don’t have a plan for it at the moment, don’t hold your breath or anything, but one never knows what will happen with all this red yarn flying around.

And Kim said:

Thanks for the invite–as you know, I actually have a red sweater that needs to get finished.

You are most welcome! I’m glad you could join up. Make sure you go check out the wonderful buttons that Anne made for the KAL. Much better than mine. ;-)

Oh there you are! I’ll have you know I have made this trip all the way across from Ireland at huge personal inconvenience to tell you off good-oh about this ridiculous idea of a Red Sweater KAL. I mean, who needs bright cheerful red when winter is coming? Who on earth could enjoy donning a blaze of colour on a dull afternoon? And who, most of all, pray tell me, could possibly derive any pleasure from hauling out a delectable yarn long hoarded, or making a secret trip to the LYS, to start on such a disgraceful project? No, I hear the rest of you knitters out there cry, no, we think it’s a dreadful idea too. Down with cheerfulness! Down with creativity! Down with Red Sweater KALs!
