Mountain Peaks is blocking

I finished it yesterday. Had work to do so I didn’t have time to block it right then, as I wanted to. I used a crochet hook to bind off the last seventeen stitches, and I really like the way it turned out. It was a little awkward, but I ended up with a nicely elastic bind-off edge. The only thing left is to hide three yarn ends. Hid one of the ends yesterday, then Mountain Peaks before blocking 2006-10-20decided that the others would be better off done after blocking. Blocked it just now. The first photo is the finished shawl before blocking. The second photo is the shawl tacked down to the bed. I wish I had a blocking wire for the top edge, but I don’t. It’s, um, not perfect, but I don’t think it’ll be noticeable when it’s being worn, so it’s not that big of a deal. I had to get down low for the picture to minimize the effect of the striped sheet it’s pinned to.

Wow, that is really pretty! I have gotten into the fringes of knitting lace but haven’t been bitten by the shawl bug yet. I think blocking on the bed is great but I have a Sleep Comfort bed so I can’t do it that way. Good thing I have lots of carpet!

    Hello –

I found your site from Chappy’sMom. Your shawl is just beautiful! Congratulations on finishing it. And I love your kitty pictures too. :)
