They’re growing October 30, 2006
My knitting and stitching projects are growing, that is.
Errant Ankles socks
As I suspected, my red sweater has been taking knitting precedence over the second Socktoberfest sock. I have started the sock, though. See? I think that’s about four rounds. Maybe five or six. I don’t even know. I decided that the better course of action would be to move it down here to my office so that I can at least knit a needle-ful every now and again. I love the first sock, and really want to wear them, so I need to get a move on.

Once
again it doesn’t feel like I got that much done. Is that statement getting as dull and boring for you as it is for me? I’m still enjoying working on this, though the Iris quick stitch is starting to call more loudly. I’m hoping to get another couple weeks in on this before rotating again. We’ll see. I did a fair amount of that pale yellow this week, and I started on the next leaf. That’s it.
Red gables
Yes, I’ve been spending a
lot of time knitting my red sweater. It’s been sheer joy so far. I haven’t knit a top-down sweater in about twenty years, and this one’s so completely different. The construction is totally fun. I love how the paired increases look, and give the sweater raglan sleeves at the same time. Fun, fun, fun. Dave’s always amazed by knitting. He’s been sitting there watching me knit in the round, and I end up with raglan sleeves. Total mystery to him. That’s rather fun, too.
When I got the sleeve stitches put off onto waste yarn, I tried on my sweater, and it fits. Perfect size. Woohoo! I’ve knit down the body a couple inches now, and the rows are going a lot faster without those extra one hundred thirty stitches.

I took some extra photos so you can see the different directions the stitches go in. Knitting is so cool. I’m grateful that someone, way back when, thought to think it up.

What you can do with a couple needles and yarn is amazing! Wonderful progress on everything!

Oh, the sweater looks absolutely yummy! I’m so glad that it fits. Keep up the great work.
