Errant Ankles progress and a podcast
I took my sock with me to the senior
center yesterday, and between helping people, writing in my blog, and reading other blogs, I got a couple of rows done. A couple more appeared yesterday afternoon, and two more knit themselves (with a little help from me) while I was listening to Earin’s podcast, TrueYarns, this morning. I’ve never taken the time to listen to a podcast before. Have you? I don’t have anything to compare Earin’s with because of that, but I enjoyed listening to her. She broke up the segments with music a couple times, and that was nice, too.
I have to admit to having actually gone out of my way to listen to Earin this morning. In spite of herself, she talked herself into joining the Red Sweater KAL, and she wants to interview Anne and me. I don’t know how Anne will feel about being interviewed. The idea makes me a little nauseous, but I agreed anyway. If nothing else, the experience will be interesting. When I listened to Earin’s podcast I felt a bit of a connection with her, so it could even be quite fun to talk to her. We’ll see.
Silk ties
Knit ties? Again? This kills me.
I find it almost breathlessly funny. I had to show Dave. He groaned. I asked if he wanted me to knit him one. Absolutely not! Then he noticed that unlike the last time knit ties were in this at least has an angled hem to it, so it’s not quite as bad. If this is the first time around for you, or you’re on a nostalgia kick, KnitPicks made the pattern a free download. The pattern is available here. I do like the yarn, though. It’s KnitPicks yarn, Gloss, a merino silk blend, fingering weight. All sorts of lovely things could come from this lustrous yarn.
The stockings were hung
There’s a trio of Christmas stocking patterns
out from Berroco. I like the felted one best—it’s the one I’ve shown here. They designed these stockings to be knit with their Ultra Alpaca yarn. Over all I think these would be much better knit out of a cheaper wool. I hate wasting glorious alpaca on something that will only be seen, and not on the body, for a week or two per year. The Sean Stocking, the felted one, as I said is my favorite. There’s also the John Stocking, a nice Fair Isle design, and the Colleen Stocking, an Aran. The cable going up the side of the Colleen is nice, but they messed up the heel design somehow. It looks funky. If I were to make it I’d put a different heel on it.
