Pinwheel blanket November 24, 2006
Yes, except for dealing with those pesky
ends, I finished up the pinwheel blanket last night. Woohoo! I’ll be writing up the pattern for it any day now, and would love to have a couple volunteers to test knit it for me.
I designed the blanket for my husband to use as a lap blanket, but the size would make a good baby blanket, too. It’s done all in garter stitch. You need to know how to pick up stitches, and knit two stitches together to join two pieces, rather like in entrelac knitting. It’s knit in columns. There are no seams to be sewn. When you’re done knitting the pinwheels and edges, you can move right into knitting the border without any fuss. At most, you’ll be knitting with four colors at once, so the intarsia bits aren’t too bad, fairly easy to manage. With all the small areas of color, it’s a great way to use up odd bits of yarn from your stash.
Of course, test knitters will get the pattern for free.
Edited to add: P.S. The pattern is done and ready to be tested!
