Vesting

I’ve never Seda vestbeen all that comfortable wearing a knit vest over a blouse—I always hated jumpers, too, the blouse usually ends up bunched up just under my boobs—but I really like how some of them look. Luckily, here in southern California I can wear a vest over, er, my underwear, no blouse need be imposed. When it’s cool, my rule is a cardigan over a vest. This vest looks perfect for that sort of thing. It’s called Seda Vest, and it’s from KnitPicks. I even love the color, Forest Heather. Some of the new heathered tones of their Wool of the Andes yarn are delightful. I like how this vest is shaped… lovely cables across the back. But they use steeks. Of all the things I’ve done with my knitting over the years, patterns, cables, lace, funky shaping, socks… I haven’t done steeks. The thought of cutting my knitting still terrifies me. Some day I do want to try it. Honest I do. I mean, people have been cutting steeks for a long time now, and it works out just fine, so I know it works. Scary though.
