How do you secure your thread when you begin a new one? Specifically, do you or have you ever used a waste knot?
No. I have never used a waste knot. Well, I probably shouldn’t say “never.” Almost never is more accurate. I remember having done it. I tried it eons ago, probably twenty years ago, and didn’t like it at all. Wastes too much thread, or in that case, yarn, as I was doing needlepoint. I much prefer just running the thread (or yarn) along behind the stitches. These days, if I’m stitching with an even number of strands and they’re not blends, then I use the loop method to start my threads.

I’m also a cross-stitcher (although I haven’t done it in a very long time), but I also never used a waste knot. I work my beginning threads the same way you do & I definitely LOVE the loop method. You’re blog is making me feel inspired to start cross-stitching again!
