A couple quick pictures December 21, 2006
Folks haven’t quite gotten
going around here yet this morning, so I thought I’d show you the scarf pictures, which I just took. The specs:
- Pattern: Cat’s Cradle Long-ways Scarf by HeartStrings FiberArts
- Yarn: Knit Picks Shimmer in Turquoise Splendor, 70% baby alpaca and 30% silk
- Needles: Size 5 circular Addi Turbos; circular needles are a must as there are way too many stitches on the needle at one time for even the longest straight needles
- Modifications: I made the scarf shorter than the pattern for
two reasons: 1. I thought I had enough yardage, but wasn’t positive, and 2. my aunt is quite short, and I didn’t want it to hang down to her knees. The pattern was great in that it gave very easy instructions for changing the length, if you want. - Notes: The pattern was well-written, and super easy to follow. The cat’s cradle stitch was a little tricky on the purl side, but once I got it down, it went smoothly and reasonably quickly.
On another note,
I finally have progress to show you on the Flared Lace Smoke Ring—pattern also by HeartStrings FiberArts. This yarn is so slippery I had a tough time getting it started, but once I did the pattern was easy to do, and I’ve made a ton of progress. See? At a certain point last night I got myself confused, paused, inserted chocolate (into my mouth, not the knitting!) and an apple, and was able to figure it out easily when I went back to it. I’ll definitely not have this done by the time Mom lands at noon, but I hope to have a few more rows done, anyway. In which case, I’d better get off the computer and back upstairs with my tea and company to knit!

Great finish on the Cat’s Cradle scarf! I love that shades of turquoise in that yarn. And it looks like the Smoke Ring is off to a rip roaring start, as well. You go, girl!

Gorgeous pics!

Congrats on finishing Cat’s Cradle in time. It turned out absolutely beautiful!
Good luck with Smoke Ring. Now that you’ve progressed a bit further, I am falling in love with the colorway!

Gorgeous! I am humbled…..
And I know what you mean- I finished J.’s scarf and decided since my needles were smoking and all I wanted to jump on another scarf. Well, 4 or so restarts later I decided the knitting fairies were trying to tell me something. “One skein of that shade, don’t start it now!”
Beautiful work Laura!

Pretty scarf. Looks like you are in a “lacey” phase
Thanks for stopping by my blog. When I switched over to the “new blogger” it took all day(as I said), and the jury is still out as to how much it will mess up my team blog KAL–I know that you have to be on the new blogger to be able to post on it. I don’t know if I’ll have to resend all the invites(that would be a pain!). Good luck with your switch overs when they happen
I didn’t even think about whether or not I’ll be able to post on the Red Sweater KAL? I’m making progress there by the way
Happy holidays!!
