Still too many January 19, 2007
It’s disgusting. This is ridiculous.
The sock is still too big.
Look at this.
I can fold the fabric over the side of my foot.
No matter how you look at it, I have way too many stitches for a comfortable sock.
If I continued knitting with all these stitches, the thing would fall off my foot.
Not only that, but if you look closely at the stitches at the very end of the toe, you’ll see that they stick out. This is not acceptable. It would have been okay; I could have lived with it without a problem, if this time the sock fit. But it didn’t.
So, I did this.
I frogged the whole thing.
I’ll start over when I recover.

What toe-up pattern are you using? I used Wendy Knits pattern for my size 7 feet and they fit really well. I used size 1 needles instead of the size 0 she has in her pattern. You are using size 2 1/2? Is this for regular sock yarn? That seems a bit big.

AHHHH! I’m so feeling your pain. Although didn’t you say you don’t mind frogging? Did you measure your gauge before you frogged? If so that will definitely help when you start over. To be honest, from what I can tell (and some days I can’t tell much), your yarn doesn’t look “thick” enough to be using that large size of needles with that pattern. You either should drastically decrease the number of stitches or try a smaller size needle … but that’s just my 2 cents and probably all that it’s worth. Don’t give up on the socks. With all the beautiful things you knit, you will conquer this!

How odd! I hope you sort it all out soon..
(I think we have the same size feet ;) )
