The saga continues

Meanwhile, since I didn’t like the original cast on method, I poked around for something else. I found this, Judy’s magic cast on for toe-up socks over at Knitty. I tried it. I messed up a time or two—it was three in the morning, so I have an excuse—but finally got it. This time, instead of casting on twelve stitches, I cast on fourteen, then increased until I had forty six stitches. Toe up sock 2007-01-20 - 1

It goes on my foot.

So far, there isn’t any looseness.

I’m still knitting away, working on using up the yarn I frogged yesterday. I’ll try it on again later. Should be able to tell better by then.

If it doesn’t work this time, I’ll frog it again.

I have high hopes, however.

Keep your fingers crossed.

By jove, I think you’ve got it, Laura. I’m rooting for you!
I’m not doing so hot on my first sock. I got the heel turned and the gusset picked up but I’m sort of turned around on it because I’m not quite sure where the rows start anymore. I used the 4 dpns I bought but I really needed 5. I am seriously thinking of ripping and starting over, but I really don’t want to.

I’d cross my toes for you too, but they don’t move. Or else I totally would, you know, cross them.

I just caught up on your posts and I am so sorry to see the frustration you are having with these socks! It reminds me of the ones I frogged and they now exist as two pretty balls of Lorna’s Laces in my little stash cabinet. Ugh! Fingers crossed (and toes) that things will work out all right!
