I’m singularly amazed at how quickly this
afghan is working up so far. So amazed that I checked my gauge, measured the afghan, did some math. Yup. I’m right on track. Stunning. It really doesn’t look like it has a circumference of fifty-five inches, does it? I didn’t think so, either. But it does. I have thirty four rows done now, and some new colors added.
Here are some more photos. I just love the texture and color changes. Most of these yarns are so soft I want to cuddle up with them. That’s a good trait in an afghan.

I had this cute, furry helper following me around this morning. Everywhere I went for a while, I’d turn around and she’d be sitting there. I never saw her move, she’d just appear in a new place. Sitting. Watching.
Yes, I’ve been working on the second striped sock.
The color-order is opposite that in the first sock. Partly on purpose, partly not. I had thought about making them different from each other, then decided to make them the same. I tried to dig the yarn end out of the center of the new ball of yarn to do just that, and failed miserably. I guess they wanted to be different from each other. Matching, but not quite.
I did, somehow, manage to get the same amount of pink at the toe of each sock. Without even trying to. If I’d tried to, there’s no way I could have gotten it that close.

How in the world are you going to part with that afghan? It’s gorgeous!!
Matchy matchy on socks isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I made DH a pair of Trekking XXL socks that don’t match at all & I like the effect. It’s really dependent on the person receiving them, so if you like them, then that’s all that matters.

Laura,
I love the afghan! What are the different yarns that you are using?

The afghan looks wonderful! And I think that there’s nothing wrong with socks that don’t exactly match. After all, you want fun, hand-knit socks, right? Not ones that look like they came out of a sweatshop in China. LOL
