Good progressFeather & fan socks 2007-02-19 is being made on my first feather and fan sock. Heel turned. Check. Gussets knit. Check. Foot knit. Just begun.

Did I tell you? Except for weaving in the ends and doing the fringe, the afghan is done for mom. I know. I’m such a tease. Photos pending. I want to get those two little chores done before I show you the results. I’m hoping by mid or late week I’ll have them for you.

Since I finished knitting the afghan, I got to start my black lace shawl. I’m knitting the Melon Shawl in Victorian Lace Today with that yummy yarn I got when Kristie and I met at Velona. Melon shawl 2007-02-19 2Other than probably benefiting from pointier needles, the shawl is going along very well so far. The lace pattern is easy to memorize, simple to execute, but varied enough to keep me from getting bored to death. So far. I love this yarn! I really poufs out when you knit it. I mean, it looks fuzzy on the ball, but when it’s knit it’s like it’s been released from a cage or something. Melon shawl 2007-02-19 1

Here’s another photo of it so you can see how far I really am. I’ve done fewer than ten pattern repeats, and need a total of sixty-two before I start the border. That said, there is the obvious chance for extreme knitting boredom there, but the yarn is so yummy that I’m hoping it is sufficient to counter-act it. Time will tell. Felt Frenzy

I was reading Shannon Okey’s blog yesterday, and found that she and Heather Brack have written a new book called Felt Frenzy: 26 Projects for All Forms of Felting. It’s due to be released on May 28, 2007. I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely looking forward to taking a look at it when it comes out. Looks intriguing. I do really need to try to felt something one of these days.

The shawl looks great Laura!! I knit up a bag this weekend and felted it last nite. It started out (just the “bag” portion, not the handles) 16 x 13, it is now 11 x 10 1/2!! I love it. I’ll send you some photos. You really need to try it.

Beautiful effects on the shawl! And the sock looks great too! :)

You go, girl! I can’t believe that you are done with your mom’s afghan already, have 10 repeats done on the shawl and are more than halfway done on the first sock. Sheesh! Do you have to stop every once in a while and blow on your needles to cool them down? ;)

OOHHH! Such lovelies you posted today. Almost makes up for no photos of the afghan… almost.

You’re handling multiple projects just beautifully! Although I’d love to go on & on about how beautiful the sock is, I’m just wowed by the shawl! GORGEOUS! The author of Victorian Lace Today will be at Stitches Thursday morning. Too bad I won’t be there until Thursday evening .. bummer! I’d love to meet the designer of your gorgeous shawl.
