The stitching progresses

There’s currently a lot more talk (and thought) about knitting here on my blog and in my life. But my evenings are never complete if I don’t get to cross stitch for a bit. Rather interesting, that. I think so, anyway.

I now have just a hair less than twenty percent of this piece done. Even Dave likes it. The iris is, I believe, his second favorite flower, coming in immediately under the rose. His mom grew Iris 2007-02-21irises when he was growing up, evidently had quite the garden full of them. And they were huge. She knew how to talk to them right. If we ever manage to move away from this area, to some place that bulbs like, I’ll definitely grow them. Doesn’t get cold enough here for them, and they’d have to be dug and frozen every winter, replanted in the spring. Just not worth that kind of effort to me. Or to Dave.

In the meantime, we have settle for stitched ones. These’ll do.

My mother has loads of iris planted around her house. My dad divides some of them every year and I keep meaning to get some. I wonder if they are just laying around in their shed somewhere? LOL

I really like the HAED designs. I just haven’t had the patience yet to try one. I think I’m going to do one of their bookmarks first, to get my feet wet.

    Looks amazing!

I’m trying Iris in my garden for the first time this year. It should be interesting to see how it goes.

Do iris need cooler temps than other bulb plants? I only ask because my paper whites bloom beautifully every year. Very interesting.

Before you know it, page 2 will be done. It’s coming along beautifully.
