Page one down…

Thursday, February 15, 2007

I am still totally loving working on this Iris Quickstitch from Heaven and Earth Designs. Loving it. I have officially finished page one of the chart. There are three more pages this size, and five smaller ones yet to do.
The nickel is there for size reference, so you can see how little space 5,187 […]

Love stories

Thursday, February 15, 2007

Love stories? Yes or No? Not really, no.
If yes, “romances” as a genre? Or just, well, stories that have love stories? (Nobody’s going to call “Pride & Prejudice” a “romance,” right?) I used to. Maybe that’s why. When I was in high school, for a while I read nothing but romances. You know the […]

Pattern search

Wednesday, February 14, 2007

I had quite a clever title for this post about five minutes ago, and have since completely forgotten what it was. I hate it when I do that! Bah.
Anyway, I haven’t stopped searching for patterns for all this yarn I suddenly need to do something with. As of this moment, I have it narrowed […]

They are different. Really!

Tuesday, February 13, 2007

See?
Okay.
There are some major similarities here, but the Hidden Violet and Lagoon colorways are indeed different from one another.
For one thing, there’s no gray at all in the Hidden Violet yarn, and for another there’s no periwinkle in the Lagoon yarn.
I don’t know that the feather and fan pattern is showing up […]

Fins and feathers

I got tons done on the afghan for Mom over the weekend. Tons. Especially on Saturday. It’s getting more yummy with every row. I just want to cuddle up in it.
And look at this. Doesn’t it look like a luscious skirt? Wouldn’t it be divine to wear this with some boots and a cuddly […]

Knitting newsletters

Sunday, February 11, 2007

First up, a new pattern book, Family Tree Knitting Collection, from Berroco featuring patterns by Barbara Delinsky as a companion to her novel, Family Tree. The book features only four patterns: bag, shawl, throw, and layette.
In the newsletter early in the week from Knit Picks are his and hers knit shorts. These crack me […]

Stitching retreats

Saturday, February 10, 2007

This week’s SBQ was suggested by Danielle and is:
Have you ever been to a stitching retreat?
Nope. No stitching or knitting retreats so far for this girl, nor any looming on the horizon. Even if I had the money for one, the ones I most want to go to are in places that I want to […]

My first toe ups

Friday, February 9, 2007

I finally had the time to weave in the yarn ends and proclaim my first pair of toe-up socks done—and a rousing success!

Pattern: I started with a free two at once toe-up sock pattern that I found on Knit Picks, but used Judy’s magic cast on, and the short row heel from Wendy’s generic toe […]

Yesterday

Friday, February 9, 2007

I met Kristie at Velona—a local yarn store—yesterday afternoon. I don’t want you to get the wrong impression from this photo I found on their web site. The store is much more full than that; there’s nowhere near that much empty floor space anywhere in the store. Not any more, anyway. Kristie was looking for […]

I’m hungry

Thursday, February 8, 2007

I’ve been up since 6 a.m., and haven’t had breakfast yet. I was about to go upstairs and take care of that, but then Ricki came in to visit. And she did something she hasn’t done in a long time.

No. That’s not it. She sleeps all the time. She’s a cat.
What’s unusual is that […]
