Feather & Fan socks

I finished knitting these yesterday afternoon, and wove in the ends just now. I think I’ll wear them when I go run errands this afternoon. If I can wait that long before putting them on. We’ll see. Feather & fan socks done 1

  • Pattern: Feather and fan from Socks Socks Socks
  • Yarn: Blue Moon’s STR lightweight in Nodding Violet, which for some reason I’ve been thinking was called Hidden Violet, but it’s not.
  • Needles: Crystal Palace bamboo, size 1, set of 5.
  • Elapsed time: February 12 through March 16.
  • Pattern changes: Instead of a slip-slip-knit-pss2o at the center of the pattern, I did a slip-k2tog-psso; I found it easier to do, and I liked the look better. The pattern called for a garter bump going all the way around the foot at the base of the ankle. I didn’t put it in. Also, instead of grafting the stitches at the toe, which I’m miserable at, I decreased until I had eight stitches left, and pulled the yarn through.
  • Notes: I lost track of the number of times I knit the toe of the first sock. I even re-knit it after finishing the second sock, as the first one was still too short. I finally got it, though. Loved knitting the feather and fan pattern. It was easy to memorize, yet changed often enough to make the knitting fun and interesting.

They’re beautiful and I bet they fit your little feet perfectly! I’m going to make a note of that pattern change and try it.

I like the scalloped sort of effect near the top! Great foot keepers!

They’re so pretty, Laura! Congratulations on the finish.

I’m on sock #2 and taking up the gusset- so about half way there. Soon, I’ll have my first pair.

I just got my Socks Socks Socks book and also noticed the row of garter rib at the ankle. I didn’t care for it either so I’m glad you left it out. How clever of you to do that change in the pattern. I’ll have to make a notation of that.

You did an amazing job capturing the beauty of those socks in your photos! Although, the socks are absolutely GORGEOUS in person! Size 1 though? I hope that doesn’t mean I’ll have to use my O’s again. Ugg!

    So what socks are next?
