Baby sweater giveaway March 22, 2007
Early last year I got several bags of sewing fabrics from my next door neighbor’s eldest son. He’d moved his mother out of her home (sadly, it was time),
and was clearing out the house to sell when Dave mentioned to him that I might be interested in the fabric. He gave it to me. You wouldn’t believe the pile. I can’t find the post. I know I posted about it (I hate it when I lose my own posts).
Anyway, in with all the fabric was this tiny yellow baby cardigan. Clearly hand knit of a soft acrylic—at least I think it’s acrylic. It had an oddly colored stain on one of the button plackets, so I tossed it in the closet, figuring I’d wash it later and give it to a
friend who was pregnant. Well, I didn’t get that far. I only washed it today. It went through the washer and dryer like a dream. The stain is completely gone, and the tiny sweater looks fabulous.
As you can see, it’s a hooded cardy. It has three buttons and three button holes at the top of the placket. It’s in beautiful condition. I’d love to give it to my friend, but her baby grew out of anything this size a long time ago. I could just give it to Goodwill or one of those, but I’d rather have more contact with the recipient of this little sweater than that, so I decided to give it away to someone who reads my blog.
If you want this adorable little yellow baby cardigan, for yourself, a grandchild, a friend, or whoever, let me know by replying to THIS post before midnight, April 1, 2007, Pacific time. Tell me in your comment why you want it, who will get the cardigan, and who will wear it—if different. Because this isn’t a popularity contest, to make it fair and give everyone an equal chance, I’ll choose the winner by random number generator. Then I’ll mail the sweater to the lucky winner.

I think little Noah would love this sweater. Currently his mom is in the hospital (today is day 10) and will be there another 19 before Noah joins her. Then after he arrives she will be there another week to make sure she doesn’t have a seizure after giving birth. I’m knitting him a yellow baby blanket and this little yellow sweater would go great with it. It hasn’t been easy for Noah’s mom. It took a couple of years and specialized doctors for Noah even to be. Now she is fighting pre-eclampsia, kidney and liver issues that can only be solved with Noah’s arrival (his due day isn’t until May 11, his mom’s birthday).

You know, I think Noah should have the sweater. I don’t know him or his mom, but reading what Jenni wrote, I agree :)

Well, I was going to ask for the sweater and offer to pay shipping. My sons friend just had a baby boy and I knit him a yellow and green blanket, I will e-mail you a photo, she is only 20 and her son was born last Thursday. But after Jennis story, I think Noah should get it. It is a darling sweater, I’m glad the stain came out.

A good friend of mine, whom I met online none-the-less is having her first baby. I’d love to pass this sweater along to her.
