Melon shawl

I’m so close with the Melon shawl I can almost taste it.

Melon shawl 2007-03-28 Grafting swatches

See?

All that needs to be done is the grafting. In order to test out the instructions Kristie sent me, I knit up a sample in some bright, easy to see, easy to use yarn. Yes, this is exactly the same pattern. Doesn’t look nearly as nice in this thick yarn, does it? Well, it should do for the sample grafting, anyway. Hoping to get to that today. Wish me luck. I finished up the first side of the kitting bag the other day. I ended up with a hair less than two yards of yarn left, and a bunch of live stitches that I put on a stitch holder before casting on for side two. Since I didn’t have the Melon to knit on last night, I worked on the knitting bag instead. Made great progress on side two already. Dave thinks the yarn is interesting. LOL

I can’t believe how close you are to being done! Wow! I think you’ll find the grafting is done pretty quickly.

I would definitely LOVE to see your shawl up close after you have it blocked. I’d also like to see the progress on your knitting bag. It looks GREAT in the photos, but I know your items always look even better in person! :-)

Good luck with your grafting! I can’t wait to see your knitting bag again. :)
