Feather & Fan socks

Friday, March 16, 2007

I finished knitting these yesterday afternoon, and wove in the ends just now. I think I’ll wear them when I go run errands this afternoon. If I can wait that long before putting them on. We’ll see.

Pattern: Feather and fan from Socks Socks Socks
Yarn: Blue Moon’s STR lightweight in Nodding Violet, which for […]

Joy!

Thursday, March 15, 2007

There are tons of buds hiding down below the leaves, too.
As planned, Kristie came over after lunch yesterday, and we played with yarn and drank tea. I’m a horrible blogger, though. I had my camera sitting there on the coffee table all afternoon, and never took one picture. I guess I was just too […]

By a toe

Tuesday, March 13, 2007

I was farther along than I thought. Held the sock in progress up to the finished one early this morning, and wow! Is it time to start the toe? Counted pattern repeats. Nope. One more repeat to go. Knit that. Started the toe decreases. I’m on the home stretch.
The question is whether or not I’ll […]

Changes

Monday, March 12, 2007

Unbeknownst to us, there have been more things going on over at Interweave Knits than the change in layout. Eunny let us know in her blog post this morning. She’s going to be the new editor! Eunny is an amazing knitwear designer and knitting author. I mean, look at this sweater she just finished. It’ll […]

Furniture

Monday, March 12, 2007

Whether you call it a highboy, dresser, or chest of drawers, it’s old, it’s been a ghastly shade of dark turquoise—ghastly in our minds, anyway—and it’s been in Dave’s family, and that color, since before his mother was born.
If you’ve been getting the idea that we have lots of old stuff around here, you’d […]

It’s smokey

Monday, March 12, 2007

I’m sure by now a lot of you have heard about southern California’s first fire of the year, the Windy Ridge Fire. It’s close enough to our house that we watched the smoke all day yesterday, wondered where it was, but not close enough to cause panic in the street (not me, not running around […]

Feathers

Friday, March 9, 2007

I’ve been knitting steadily along on the Melon shawl. I have forty six repeats done now. Maybe it’s forty seven. Hm. Anyway, plugging right along. I’d show you, but it doesn’t really look any different than it did earlier in the week, just longer.
The feather and fan socks, on the other hand, do show […]

A pair of memes

Do you lend your books to other people? If so, any restrictions? For the most part, no.
Do you borrow books from other people (friends or family—I’m not talking about the public library)? Again, for the most part, no.
And, most importantly—do the books you lend/borrow get returned to their rightful owners?? When I’ve […]

All tangled up

Thursday, March 8, 2007

I sometimes wonder how they keep track of all those feet.

Couch update
Dave and I took the fabric sample books back to the upholsterer on Friday afternoon. While there we got a tour of the small shop, saw a couple works in progress, and looked at tons more sample books.
First off, we should have […]

Ack! Hormones!

Thursday, March 8, 2007

Egads. If there were any doubt—which there wasn’t—my ovaries are still producing hormones quite well, thank you very much. I’ve heard that sometimes after a uterus is removed, the ovaries, even when left in like mine were, quickly give up the ghost. Not so, mine. They’re still working quite fine.
Gads.
I’ve been in an increasingly […]
