Stitches and a sock April 5, 2007

How do you decide which stitching blogs are worth repeat and/or regular viewings? Are there certain things you look for in particular? Are there things you wish there were more of? Less of? Is your blog a good example of what you like to read?
Whether stitching or knitting, one of the main things I look for is a well-written blog. I’m enough of an editor by training that consistently poor grammar and sentence structure frustrate me. If the writing is good, I can put up with some poor spelling. I like to see lots of photographs, including progress pictures. I love watching other people’s projects grow over time.
I don’t like to read much stuff about babies. I have no children, no grandchildren, nor nieces, nor nephews, and get tired of hearing about diapers, potty training, teeth, school, after school sports, and the like. Sorry. That’s just how I feel. If you have kids in your life, blog about them by all means, just don’t expect me to read those posts. I love kids, but usually only if I know them personally. That said, I tend to avoid blogs with lots of posts that are just about the kids.
Of course I like reading blogs of people who have similar interests to mine, but I also like it when they diverge a bit… I’ve found a number of new designers, patterns, techniques and have managed to expand my own experience and skill set because of it.
I hope that my blog isn’t too boring, but other than that I think I usually manage to put together some worthwhile posts with lots of pictures, and understandable—if not terribly exciting—text.
Got quite a bit done on the sock yesterday in spite of the fact that I was out all afternoon running errands. I’ve fallen into a good rhythm with it. I have three of the six decrease rounds done already. The cuff is three inches long (high?) now, and so almost half done.
I wish I could get a good picture of the colors in this yarn. The combination of the darkness of the yarn and that of the sky lately makes for poor color in photos. The variety of greens and blues here is stunning.

Very very interesting. I’m now very very afraid that you are bored by my blog though :-)
Your sock is looking gorgeous! Great choice of yarn and that pattern.

Not sure how much this means, but, I read yours many times everday that I am online! Grade A!
Mine, erm, well it’s the generic brand you know ;) *chuckle.

For the fabric, just cut a 4×4″ piece out of it, wash it normally, then measure it when it comes out of the dryer. That’ll tell you if it’ll shrink and if so how much it’ll shrinnk.
