Socks and violets April 18, 2007
The second Conwy sock now has most of its heel flap. The turning will happen this evening, then to the gussets and the foot. Me thinks I’m nearly half done. Haven’t decided which sock yarn to tackle next:
the periwinkle Panda Cotton or the woodland Fleece Artist. I’m considering using the Woodland yarn for these, or… Decisions, decisions.
I sold off those hated Susan Bates Silverado needles I used to knit Melon, along with the other three sets I had in the needle stash. With the money I got for them, and some of the money I got for the animal print fabbies, I dashed over to KnitPicks and ordered replacements. I’ve been waiting impatiently for them to arrive ever since. According to their site, the needles shipped on the thirteenth, last Friday. Maybe they’ll get here today. Maybe. I can’t swatch for Isabella until they do, as the only size three needles I had were Susan Bates, and those are gone now and in the hands of their new owner. This waiting thing sucks. I’ve never been good at it.
I’m plugging away at Vanity Fair. Still have yet to read 100 pages. It’s not a difficult read, but so far it’s not as engaging as Pride and Prejudice or Jane Eyre, so I’m not making the excuses to read another few minutes each time I pick up the book. Perhaps this will change. I hope so. At this rate it’ll take me ages to read the 670 pages between its covers.
Let’s see. Got word that DMC has added eleven new patterns to their page of free designs. The new ones aren’t marked, so except for the couple actually pictured in their newsletter, I’ve no idea which are the new ones.
I haven’t touched QuickBooks yet this morning. I’m at once gladdened and panicked by this. There’s so much more to do. Like entering the hundreds of items that I’ve sold so far this year. I’m hoping I’ll be able to import them somehow. I’d really rather not have to enter them all manually. Can you imagine? Egads. It’s worth a little time invested in thinking, tinkering, and manipulating another test file.
My pretty African violet continues to bloom its little head off, and still has tons of ripening buds loaded with the promise of a lengthy display.

I think the Jaywalkers would be wonderful with the Woodland Fleece Artist. I also tried to figure out how to do the import of your PayPal stuff into Quickbooks this morning. Don’t tell my boss, but I spent about an hour doing that. I can’t figure it out and now it’s making me NUTS. If you figure it out could you send me an e-mail? I may not be able to sleep. The e-mail I got from DMC showed all the new designs when I clicked on the link. I actually liked the flowers you posted. Have a great day Laura!!

I had no idea that DMC had free projects. I guess since I kind of slipped away from the stitching world for awhile, I’ve been missing out on all sorts of stuff. Out of curiosity, why don’t you post a picture sometime of how you organize all of your threads?
KnitPicks can be *so* slow. I’m anxious for you. I’m voting for the Panda Cotton yarn next. I’m curious to see what pattern you’ll choose and how you like knitting with it before I splurge on any for myself. The Loopy Ewe did another update again today. Thankfully I stopped myself before I placed another order for more sock yarn.
