Sock progress

I knit more hours than I should have got more knitting time in than usual yesterday, and made tons of progress on my little sock. The ankle Forget-me-not 2007-05-04is a little loose. I don’t know if I like that, but since they’re anklets, does it really matter? I’ll wait to reserve judgment until it’s done. There’s plenty of yarn for me to make at least three of these little socks, so I think the next one will have a ribbed cuff, then I’ll decide which I like better. I love how the flower stitch is looking. I got the pattern from The Vogue Dictionary of Knitting Stitches. I’ve had this book for about a million years. It has some great stitch patterns in it, and unlike the Barbara Walker books, the photographs are all in color. The pattern I’m using was supposed to be a six-petaled flower with an eyelet for the center. As you can see, I changed it. I decided to call the sock Forget-me-not, as it’s a light blue four-petaled flower. Summer of Socks 2007

Speaking of sock knitting, I saw this on Deb’s blog: Summer of Socks. Thought I’d join. I mean, I know I’m going to be knitting more socks, so why not?

I was a very, very bad girl just now. I ordered some sock yarn. I got a newsletter from Discontinued Yarn yesterday, and I should have tossed it without looking, but I didn’t. After I looked, I should have tossed it without clicking, but I didn’t. I ended up with two hanks of superwash sock yarn in my shopping cart, and I clicked the Buy button. The yarn is a mill end, and super cheap, so they put their own label on it. I’ll bet you can guess who they got it from as well as I did. I got a hank of bark, and another of cherry. Yum. I’m hoping the cherry is as red as it looks, and not pink like the last one I tried. We’ll see. If it’s too pink, it’s Latoyacheap enough I can hold on to it for a while. If not, I’ll finally get some nice red socks.

Speaking of newsletters, there are actually two cool tanks in last week’s newsletter from Berroco: Latoya and Badia. I love the cable detail and the hemline on Latoya, but prefer the overall shaping on Badia.

You are so clever! You’re making me think that maybe I want to make up my own pattern now too! Hmmm….

From the look of the photos, that is going to be the perfect summer sock. I sure hope I don’t like the yarn when I see it. I’ve done enough shopping damage lately. By the way, what will happen to the third sock you don’t want? Poor thing :-)

I’ve really been liking Berroco’s designs better lately. It must have something to do with Norah Gaughan being their design director.

Oh man, I really need to get back to learning how to knit. This is ridiculous! I love everything! Your sock design, the tank tops. *sigh* I need a time machine. Or a clone. Or a way to stop the world so that I can hop off for a while. :)

P.S. Can you point me to a good beginner sock pattern again, please? I lost the link. :(
