Forget-me-not: done June 22, 2007
- Pattern: Forget-Me-Not, of my own devising, free here.
- Yarn: Crystal Palace Panda in Periwinkle, 55% bamboo, 24% cotton, 21% elastic. I’d heard that this yarn tends to split. Some people have had a horrible time with it. I had a little trouble with it splitting at first, but after I learned what it wanted, we got along just fine. I love this yarn. It’s amazingly soft. It has a nice sheen to it. I can’t wait to wear these socks.
- Needles: Crystal Palace bamboo, size 0, set of 5.
- Elapsed time: May 3 through June 21.
- Notes: If I’d started with size 0 needles to begin with and not had to knit a total of three socks… If I had fewer projects on the go… If, if, if… It does seem like these took forever, but I love them, and can’t wait to wear them. Hot day? Here I come with my cool socks. Woot!
The whole time I was knitting these socks I thought it was totally cool that I was knitting bamboo yarn with bamboo needles. If the yarn holds up anywhere near as well as these old needles have, we’re looking forward to a long, happy life together.

Congratulations - they look so cute!
A friend of mine was telling me about bamboo yarn and I thought it sounded very nifty.

Thank you so much for the awfully cute pattern! I’ve queued it up for next month.

Don’t forget to add your pattern to Ravelry so people can access it there! They turned out perfectly and when I make mine I’ll convert the pattern to toe-up and send it to you, so you can offer both. K?

Very pretty! Thanks for providing the pattern.

I’ve been told bamboo holds up well. Let’s hope so, huh?

Love your Froget-Me-Not socks! And so nice for you to share the pattern. We’ll link to it from the Crystal Palace Yarns “Sock Index” if that is OK?
I’m glad you gave our yarn a whirl - we know it’s a little splitty, but that is part of why it’s so soft. The mill gave us a choice of a tighter ply, but it made the yarn feel a lot harder and without the “bounce” so we decided that the soft twist was better.
Knit On!

They look fabulous, Laura! Now I just need to hone my knitting skills so that I can knit a pair for myself. :)

Once again, late in posting a comment!! Love, love, love your socks. I am going to try these socks Laura. Even if I don’t finish my second sock of my first “pair”. I have to find a good source for bamboo yarn first.
