So shall we rip June 25, 2007
I hate it when I discover that I’ve chosen the wrong needle size. The good news is, though, that I only got three repeats into the Monkey pattern before I realized my error and ripped it out.
After ripping it all the way back yesterday afternoon and switching from my rarely-used US1½ needles to the oft-used US1s, I’m now here. Again. A full two repeats into the pattern. I’m totally understanding why people are enjoying this pattern. It’s easy to memorize, fun to knit, and the resulting fabric texture is awesome.
Dave still insists that this yarn is exactly like my other sock yarns: green. Well, yes. There’s green here. But there are equal amounts of brown and dark blue. To my eye, this yarn is very different from the most recent sock yarns I’ve knit.
For a minimum donation, this stunning Red Carpet Convertible dress pattern can be yours. Designer Annie Modesitt and her family are going through horrible times right now, and would appreciate your support.

Yay for only being three repeats in when you had to rip out.
Tell Dave that I respectfully disagree with his opinion that this yarn is just like the previous ones you’ve used.

That’s some purdy yarn. And one handsome Monkey-in-the-making!
BTW, the yarns look very different to me. Maybe Dave’s just having an off color day

I just did the same thing with my embossed leaves socks, but should have used one size larger needle. Instead of ripping them out, I decided to finish them for a very good friend who has dainty little feet and loved the yarn and pattern! They will make a nice birthday gift.

Very sad about the ripping. Glad you are back on track!
